Following Spain were Finland at 10.1 per cent and Sweden at 9.0 per cent, highlighting the varying employment challenges across different nations. Conversely, Malta boasted the lowest unemployment rate in the EU at 3.1 per cent, with Czechia and Poland trailing closely at 3.2 per cent each.
Focusing on youth unemployment, the situation remains concerning across the EU. In November 2025, 2.92 million individuals under the age of 25 were unemployed, with 2.33 million of these in the eurozone. The youth unemployment rate in the EU was recorded at 15.1 per cent, a slight improvement from October’s 15.2 per cent. Similarly, in the eurozone, youth unemployment eased to 14.6 per cent from the previous month’s 14.8 per cent. Notably, Cyprus does not publish monthly youth unemployment figures, opting instead for quarterly data.
Shifting focus to gender disparities in unemployment, the female unemployment rate across the EU remained stable at 6.2 per cent in November. Meanwhile, the male unemployment rate was recorded at 5.8 per cent, also unchanged from October. Within the eurozone, female unemployment saw a slight decline to 6.5 per cent from 6.6 per cent. Male unemployment figures, however, stayed steady at 6.1 per cent.
In Cyprus, the gender breakdown presents a mixed picture. Female unemployment edged down to 4.2 per cent in November from the previous month, while male unemployment saw an increase to 4.5 per cent from 4.1 per cent in October.
