Cyprus: Finance Minister Acknowledges China’s Role
At a ceremony held in Nicosia this week, Finance Minister Makis Keravnos highlighted China’s consistent backing of Cyprus, particularly its actions as a Permanent Member of the UN Security Council. Keravnos stated, “Cyprus particularly appreciates China’s stance on the Cyprus issue, including its role in supporting our efforts to resume negotiations for a viable and lasting settlement, based on the agreed UN framework.”

The minister noted that both nations are committed to the principles of the UN Charter and international law, emphasising the need for continued collaboration to ensure lasting peace. He expressed optimism that Cyprus and China will further consolidate their cooperation in the upcoming years, stating, “We are confident that our relationship will reach even higher levels.”

Keravnos remarked on the rapid development of bilateral relations, highlighting that trade and investment between Cyprus and China are expanding.
