Cyprus Sees 83% Surge in Online Shopping as Skroutz Orders Skyrocket

Online shopping in Cyprus has experienced an impressive surge, with Skroutz reporting an 83 per cent year-on-year increase in orders for 2025. This growth translates to nearly half a million orders, reflecting a significant rise in consumer confidence within the realm of cross-border e-commerce.

Online shopping: Growing User Base and Expanding Sales

According to Skroutz’s annual review, the number of local users on the platform grew by 72 per cent, demonstrating a robust interest in online shopping among Cypriots. Notably, 83 per cent of the users were based in Greece, indicating a strong connection between the two markets.

Shifting Shopping Preferences

The data reveals that technology and fashion are at the forefront of consumer interest. Mobile phones emerged as the most searched item on the site, followed closely by sneakers and athletic shoes. When it comes to completed orders, sneakers, men’s fragrances, nutritional supplements, mobile phone cases, and women’s fragrances topped the list.

Increasing Transaction Values and Mobile Usage

The average order value rose to €78, marking a 4 per cent increase from the previous year. The typical Cypriot shopper is now making nearly two purchases each month. Interestingly, mobile applications played a crucial role in this growth, with over half of the transactions—54 per cent—conducted via the Skroutz mobile app.

Payment methods have also shown a distinct preference, with cards dominating at 90 per cent of transactions. Revolut has gained traction, accounting for 8 per cent of payments. On the logistics front, Skroutz Last Mile (SLM) Cyprus has begun operations, successfully managing 93 per cent of island orders.

Introducing New Delivery Options

The introduction of parcel lockers has further enhanced the shopping experience. Since the launch of Skroutz Points in September 2025, these lockers have already accounted for 27 per cent of deliveries as of early 2026. The network currently features 36 points and 95 lockers, with plans to expand to 100 locations to improve geographical coverage and user convenience.
