Cyprus Seeds has announced the renewed commitment of The Hellenic Initiative, marking the seventh consecutive year of support from the organisation that helped establish and sustain the programme’s mission.

The Hellenic Initiative, a global non-profit organisation, plays a crucial role in mobilising the Greek and Cypriot diaspora to foster economic development, entrepreneurship, and crisis relief in both Greece and Cyprus.

In its latest announcement, Cyprus Seeds expressed that this renewed support is a significant boost for innovation and entrepreneurship within the island nation. “THI has played a vital role in our journey and their continued support for the seventh year is a tangible testimony of the support that Greeks and Cypriots of the Diaspora demonstrate in fostering deep-tech innovation and research commercialisation in Cyprus,” the organisation stated.

Since its inception, Cyprus Seeds has greatly benefited from The Hellenic Initiative’s backing, which has provided both funding and guidance to help local scientists turn groundbreaking research into viable market solutions. This partnership has been instrumental in enabling Cyprus Seeds to fund and mentor numerous high-potential research teams from Cypriot universities, thereby enhancing their efforts to bring innovative research to the marketplace.

“With THI’s renewed sponsorship, we aim to further strengthen our impact in the scientific community of Cyprus,” Cyprus Seeds added, expressing gratitude for the alignment of visions between the two organisations.

Operating as a private, non-profit entity, Cyprus Seeds focuses on the commercialisation of innovative academic research and the creation of a pipeline for deep-tech spin-offs. To realise these goals, the organisation runs an eighteen-month Innovation Grant Programme that offers grants, mentoring, training, and networking opportunities with investors, both in Cyprus and abroad.

This programme is part of two flagship initiatives in Cyprus, supported by the European Commission and the Cyprus government: the PHAETHON Teaming Project and DiGiNN. Cyprus Seeds has garnered several national and international accolades, including its recent recognition by the Financial Times as one of Europe’s Leading Start-up Hubs for 2025.

The organisation collaborates with a vast network of partners across the United States and Europe, which includes The Hellenic Initiative, the MIT Deshpande Centre for Technology Innovation, and various accelerators like the egg accelerator in Athens and Conception X in the United Kingdom, among others.

Recently, teams associated with Cyprus Seeds have accomplished significant milestones in research commercialisation, highlighting the growing influence of the organisation’s programmes and partnerships in the region.
