- The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics celebrated Dr Michaelidou’s achievement, highlighting the ongoing commitment to research, education, and innovation in the field.
The award ceremony took place at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, where Dr Michaelidou was recognised alongside four other outstanding scientists from around the world, representing Europe and North America.
The UNESCO-Al Fozan prize is given to young scientists who have made significant contributions to STEM fields. Dr Michaelidou’s award particularly highlights her internationally acknowledged research in breast cancer genetics, as well as her innovative work in developing and applying biostatistical methods that have advanced both scientific knowledge and medical research.
Expressing her gratitude, Dr Michaelidou remarked, “The award is an important recognition of my efforts in the field of science, but also of the value of research and innovation for the common good.” She extended her thanks to her team, collaborators, mentors, and the institutions that supported her throughout her career.
