Stephania Ayiotou, known as Stefficrown, is hailed as the queen of Colombian trap music, yet she finds Cyprus too small to contain her ambitions. The 38-year-old artist has made waves internationally, notably with her involvement in Netflix’s hit series Fake Profile, where her song ‘Pr0Bl3Mb0I’ served as the theme for the show’s first season.

Residing in a family home in Engomi, Nicosia, Steffi reflects on her roots while juggling a burgeoning career in music and fashion. Her father, Constantinos, built her an impressive bedroom in the house when she was 18, but by then, she was already set on a different path, eager to explore the world beyond Cyprus.

Recently celebrating her birthday at Velissima club in Protaras, where she performed alongside a top Colombian DJ, Steffi continues to evolve her artistic expression. After spending two decades abroad, she returned to Cyprus last year, ready to expand her leisurewear brand, Gear, which focuses on organic materials. “I always design my own clothes,” she proudly states, embodying her creative spirit.
During a lunch meeting at Mint restaurant in the Hilton, she recounted her journey while enjoying lobster tagliatelle and Greek salad. Steffi exudes a captivating charisma, with her Colombian heritage evident in her vibrant personality and bold ambitions. “You need balls to do the shit I’ve done,” she states with a mix of pride and realism, reflecting on the challenges she has faced.
Her artistic journey began in her teens, where she was a wild child with dreams of stardom. Despite her father’s wishes for her to pursue business, Steffi carved her own path, studying Media and Anthropology at Goldsmiths, London, before transferring to the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York. It was a time filled with both excitement and chaos, as she navigated the nightlife and creative scenes of the city.
A significant turning point came when her short film Mad Dame was accepted into Cannes, leading to her unexpected opportunity to style nominees at the Golden Globes. “I always had confidence,” she muses, reflecting on her accomplishments at a young age. As she made her mark in fashion, her music career blossomed, earning her recognition as the queen of Colombian trap.
Steffi’s journey is not without its struggles, including a challenging relationship that forced her to make difficult choices about her future. She acknowledges the transformative power of love, yet remains steadfast in her pursuit of personal and professional growth. Her tenacity is evident in her decision to purchase land in the remote Darien Gap, where she faced significant risks but emerged victorious in navigating the complexities of the real estate market.
Today, she finds herself back in Cyprus, a place she never expected to miss. “I feel safe in our culture,” she admits, contrasting the chaotic energy of Colombia with the stability she finds in her home country. Steffi’s newfound appreciation for her roots is intertwined with her faith, as she expresses a desire for marriage and family, something she had previously dismissed.
As she looks to the future, Steffi remains committed to her artistic pursuits while embracing the possibility of a more settled life. Her story is one of resilience, creativity, and unapologetic ambition, encapsulating the essence of a true queen in the world of music and fashion.
