Cypriot founder Nicole Georgiou has introduced i spy, a new fashion-tech platform poised to revolutionise the way users discover, save, and shop outfits they encounter online. The 25-year-old entrepreneur, who relocated from Cyprus to London seven years ago, unveiled the app at How Matcha in Marylebone, marking a significant milestone in her career.

A Fresh Approach to Fashion Discovery
i spy aims to tackle the fragmented journey many face when trying to shop for fashion inspiration found on social media. With proprietary visual search technology tailored for fashion, users can identify outfits, explore similar items, and organise their shopping experience seamlessly.

Event Launch Highlights
The launch event at How Matcha, a cultural hotspot known for its collaborations with brands like Miu Miu and Cult Gaia, set the stage for Georgiou’s vision. After three years in banking, she decided to fully commit to her project earlier this year, driven by a personal frustration that many fashion enthusiasts share.
Solving a Personal Frustration
Georgiou’s journey began not with the intent to start a business but to create a tool that would enhance her own shopping experience. “I wasn’t trying to build a startup,” she explained. “I wanted to create something I genuinely wanted to use.” Constantly navigating through Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest, Georgiou found it challenging to track down clothing she admired. The absence of a streamlined process for saving these pieces often left her with a chaotic collection of screenshots and forgotten links.
Bridging the Gap in Online Shopping
The realisation that the fashion discovery process has evolved while the shopping experience remains disjointed inspired her to create i spy. Georgiou noted that inspiration comes from various sources, yet the transition from seeing an item to purchasing it is “completely broken.” Her platform seeks to connect these dots, enabling a more fluid experience from discovery to purchase.
How i spy Works
Users can upload images or share content directly from platforms like Instagram or Pinterest with a single tap. The app then employs its visual search technology to identify clothing items and suggest similar alternatives from thousands of retailers at various price points. This functionality allows users to start searching, saving, and organising products in real-time.
Organising Fashion Inspiration
In addition to search capabilities, i spy lets users create visual boards categorised by events like holidays, weddings, or everyday outfits. This innovative approach aims to eliminate the clutter of browser tabs and unorganised screenshots, offering a more practical solution for tracking desired items.
Turning Inspiration into Action
Georgiou envisions i spy as more than just an inspiration platform; it is designed to convert ideas into actionable steps. While platforms like Pinterest allow users to collect ideas, i spy facilitates the transition from inspiration to tangible products that users can save and purchase whenever they are ready. “Fashion inspiration has never been more accessible,” she stated, emphasising the need for an effortless shopping experience.
A Focus on Intentional Shopping
Importantly, i spy does not promote impulsive buying. Instead, the platform encourages users to preserve their purchase intent by allowing them to save products as soon as they discover them. Users can revisit their selections at their convenience, with direct links back to the retailers, making the process more thoughtful and deliberate.
Collaborations and Future Plans
The launch also saw Italian fashion brand Marella become i spy’s first official brand partner. Furthermore, the platform has established affiliate relationships with various brands, including Isabel Marant, Nina Ricci, and Debenhams, allowing users to shop directly through trusted retail partners.
The Future of Fashion Discovery
Now available on Apple’s App Store, i spy represents the beginning of Georgiou’s ambitions to build a comprehensive infrastructure connecting fashion inspiration with online shopping. The platform’s initial launch marks a significant step towards addressing the frustrations Georgiou and countless others have faced in the evolving world of fashion.
