The incident occurred on 7 July 2026, when officers, acting on a tip-off, inspected the luggage of a Russian couple who hold Cypriot citizenship.

These goods were not declared upon their arrival, leading to a breach of customs regulations. As a result, the couple faced a fine totalling €5,022 for failing to declare the luxury items. In addition to the fines, customs officials collected €10,221 in duties and taxes from the couple.
