The gathering is scheduled for 4pm at the UN Good Offices and will follow a joint visit to the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) earlier that afternoon. After the formal discussions, both leaders will attend an informal reception hosted by Khassim Diagne, the UN’s special representative and head of the peacekeeping force in Cyprus.
This upcoming meeting marks the second time the two leaders will convene for talks. Their first meeting occurred on November 20, where Christodoulides described the discussions as “positive” but clarified that it was not a negotiation.
Prior to the December 11 meeting, Holguin will meet separately with each leader to discuss their perspectives. Erhurman will be the first to meet with Holguin on December 5, followed by Christodoulides on December 6. These preliminary talks will culminate in a trilateral session, which aims to foster dialogue between the two sides.
The meetings are part of ongoing efforts to improve relations and address long-standing issues between the Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities. As the situation evolves, these discussions represent a critical step towards potential reconciliation in a region historically marked by division.
