In a separate incident, four fatalities were reported in Ahvaz, near the Iraqi border, due to a gas explosion, as reported by state-run Tehran Times. Such occurrences highlight the precarious nature of security in various regions of Iran.
Heightened tensions between Iran and the United States, especially regarding Iran’s nuclear programme and domestic unrest, have intensified scrutiny of the country’s internal security. Two Israeli officials indicated to Reuters that Israel was not involved in the recent blasts, despite the backdrop of escalating hostilities.

The port of Bandar Abbas, a critical hub for Iran’s maritime trade located on the strategic Strait of Hormuz, has been the site of previous catastrophic explosions. A major incident last April resulted in numerous deaths and injuries, attributed to failures in civil defence and safety protocols.
