Aradippou factory: Fire Breaks Out at Noon
The blaze erupted around noon, rapidly engulfing the entire factory and posing a threat to nearby buildings. Fire crews were quick to respond, deploying seven fire engines along with a breathing apparatus vehicle and a hydraulic telescopic platform. These resources were drawn from Larnaca, Nicosia, the Vassiliko Fire Station, and EMAK.
Efforts to Contain the Blaze
To bolster firefighting efforts, a water tanker has been requested from the Department of Forests. A forward control centre has been established at the scene by Fire Service headquarters. In addition, the Ambulance Service and the Department of Labour Inspection have been called to send personnel as a precautionary measure.
Public Safety Measures in Place
Ambulances were dispatched following reports that some members of the public were affected by smoke. Roads leading to the industrial zone have been closed, and vehicles are prohibited from entering the area to ensure safety.
Intense Heat and Smoke Challenges
Firefighting forces are facing challenges due to the factory’s numerous cold storage chambers, which generate an extremely intense heat load. Crews are diligently working to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent premises while simultaneously searching the building for any potential victims trapped inside.
