Larnaca police: Raids Uncover Substantial Drug Cache

In a series of coordinated raids across Larnaca yesterday, police seized 400 grams of cocaine, various firearms, and €9,605 in cash. The arrests included a 72-year-old man, his 39-year-old son, and his 20-year-old grandson, all of whom are now facing serious charges.

Charges and Court Appearances

The father and grandson, along with three other suspects aged 19, 23, and 23, were brought before Larnaca District Court this morning. They have been remanded in custody for eight days as investigations continue. The five detained suspects face seven charges, including conspiracy, possession, and supply of Class A and B drugs, as well as money laundering and participation in a criminal organisation. Notably, one of the younger suspects is also facing an additional firearms charge.

Operation Involved Extensive Police Resources

Twenty-seven officers from the drug squad participated in the operation, which involved searching multiple homes and vehicles. The police discovered not only drugs but also cannabis, precision scales, ten mobile phones, a pistol equipped with a silencer, another firearm, and three vehicles believed to be part of the trafficking operation.

Ongoing Investigation into Criminal Network

Authorities are actively searching for the drug supplier linked to the suspects, indicating that further arrests may occur. The arrested individuals are suspected to be part of a larger criminal network operating within the Larnaca district, separate from other recent drug-related cases.

Financial Scrutiny Ahead

As the investigation unfolds, police will also examine the financial assets of the suspects, seeking to uncover the full extent of their criminal activities.
