The collision occurred on Grigoris Afxentiou Avenue, right outside the Larnaca traffic police headquarters. According to the Larnaca Traffic Police, a private car driven by a 70-year-old man, accompanied by his 66-year-old wife, was navigating G. Kranidioti Avenue when the accident happened.

As the couple approached the junction with Stratigou Timagia Avenue, the driver attempted to make a right turn, leading to a collision with another vehicle. This second car was driven by a 40-year-old man, who was travelling straight on G. Kranidioti Avenue, with his 45-year-old wife and their two children, aged eight-and-a-half and four-and-a-half, in the vehicle.

The force of the impact was severe, resulting in significant damage to both cars and knocking down a power pole belonging to the Electricity Authority of Cyprus. Firefighters were called to the scene to free the trapped 66-year-old woman, who was found inside her vehicle.

All six individuals involved in the crash were subsequently transported to Larnaca General Hospital for treatment. While the injuries varied in severity, the 66-year-old woman remains in critical condition and is currently intubated.
