Spring festivals: International Ayia Napa Winter Swimmers Festival
Kicking off the season is the 3rd International Ayia Napa Winter Swimmers Festival, which invites adventurers to take part from January 17 to 20. The highlight occurs on Sunday with a winter sea swim, complemented by a sand art competition, tai chi and yoga classes, and a stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) exhibition. Monday features an excursion, and the final day includes another sea swim, brunch, and a visit to the Thalassa Museum.

Citrus Celebrations in Arakapas
As February arrives, the charming village of Arakapas in Limassol district will celebrate the humble mandarin at the 3rd Arakapas Mandarin Festival on February 1. Set in the village square, festival-goers can expect live music, workshops, market stalls, and a variety of mandarin-inspired treats from 11am to 7pm.
Honouring Almond Blossoms
Just a fortnight later, on February 15, Giolou village will host the 7th Almond Blossoms Festival, celebrating the beauty of blooming almond trees. Starting at 11am, this festival will feature traditional music, village excursions, and local delicacies, providing a taste of Cypriot culture amidst stunning natural scenery.
The Thrill of Limassol Carnival Week
From February 12 to 22, Limassol will come alive with its renowned Carnival Week. This festive period includes street parties, competitions for the Crazy Mask, and performances by choirs. The celebrations officially commence on February 12, known as Tsiknopempti, featuring the Carnival Queen’s grand opening along Anexartisias Avenue, followed by vibrant parades filled with percussion bands, majorettes, and dancers.
The excitement continues with an evening parade on February 19, where musicians and masquerade performers will parade through the old town, culminating in the grand Sunday parade on February 22, which will kick off at noon, drawing crowds to witness the colourful spectacle.
Another Citrus Festival in Dierona
Following the Limassol Carnival, the 6th Dierona Mandarin Festival on March 1 will celebrate the region’s citrus heritage with a day dedicated to eating, drinking, and dancing. Attendees can enjoy performances from local singers, including Stefanos Pelekanis and Areti Ketimi.

From March 8 to 10, Nicosia will host the 9th International Poetry Slam Cyprus, where poets from Cyprus and abroad will compete in an exciting two-day battle at ARTos House. This event promises a diverse range of performances in multiple languages, and aspiring poets can register until February 24.
