cyprus tourism — cyprus tourism — Cyprus’ tourism revenue saw a remarkable boost in October 2025, reaching €458.60 million, a 12.4 per cent increase from the previous year. This surge has contributed to total tourism earnings of €3.43 billion for the first ten months of 2025, representing a 15 per cent rise compared to €2.98 billion during the same period in 2024, according to a report from the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat).
The data, derived from a passenger survey, highlights a growing interest in Cyprus as a travel destination, although it also notes a decline in average spending per visitor. In October 2025, the average expenditure per person dropped to €852.80 from €888.47 in October 2024, marking a decrease of 4 per cent on an annual basis.
Cyprus tourism: UK Tourists Lead the Charge
Tourists from the United Kingdom continued to dominate the market, accounting for 31.4 per cent of total arrivals in October. UK visitors spent an average of €108.42 per day during their stay, contributing significantly to the overall tourism revenue. This enduring preference for Cyprus among British travellers underscores the island’s appeal as a holiday destination.
Strong Performance from Israeli and German Visitors
Following the UK, tourists from Israel emerged as the second largest market in October, making up 11.1 per cent of total arrivals. Israeli visitors demonstrated strong spending habits, averaging €132.12 per day. Meanwhile, visitors from Germany, who represented 7.8 per cent of the market, also maintained solid spending levels with an average of €111.79 per day.
The figures illustrate a diverse mix of nationalities contributing to the vibrant tourism industry in Cyprus. Despite the drop in average spending, the overall increase in visitor numbers and total revenue reflects a resilient sector recovering from previous challenges.
Looking Ahead
As Cyprus continues to attract tourists from various regions, the tourism sector is poised for further growth. The combination of increasing visitor numbers and a strategic focus on enhancing the overall tourist experience may help in addressing the decline in average expenditure. Stakeholders in the tourism industry are optimistic about maintaining this upward trajectory as they prepare for the upcoming months.
