The Department of Forests has successfully released 18 mouflon on 5 December from its species conservation facility at Stavros tis Psokas. This action is part of a long-term effort aimed at studying, protecting, and strengthening mouflon populations, which are emblematic and strictly protected mammals of Cyprus.
Among the released mouflon, ten individuals were fitted with satellite tracking transmitters. This technology will facilitate the monitoring of their adaptation to the natural environment, providing critical insights into their movements and behaviour following their release.
