Violence towards: Artists Join Forces for Awareness
The festival this Sunday brings together artists and the community in a powerful stand against violence towards women. Part of the Month of Action Against Violence Against Women, this event is set to feature a range of artistic interventions and performances aimed at raising awareness and celebrating womanhood.

A Collaborative Effort
Organised by the Pancyprian Association of Single-Parent Families and Friends alongside the Cultural Movement Epologi, the festival has garnered support from multiple stakeholders. The National Coordinating Body for the Prevention of Violence Against Women, as well as the municipalities of Limassol, Amathus, Curium, Polemidia, and the Limassol district organisation, have all lent their backing to this important initiative.
Event Details
Set to take place at the Old Port square in Limassol, the festival kicks off at 10am with the opening of an art market. This vibrant marketplace will showcase the talents of local artists and provide a platform for creative expression.
At 3pm, attendees can look forward to a performance by the children’s choir of Maria Diamantidou, followed by an oriental dance performance by Impulse dance studio, which will precede the official opening of the festival.
Important Speeches and Performances
Short greetings from key figures, including the justice minister and other officials, will take place after the opening performances. These remarks are poised to set the tone for the day, highlighting the importance of the cause and the role of the arts in advocating for change.
Engaging Film and Interactive Experiences
The festival will also feature a film screening at 5pm, showcasing stories and experiences related to the theme of violence against women. Following the screening, an interactive documentary performance titled Hymen will explore the collective female body and the narratives it carries, inviting attendees to engage with the material on a deeper level.
At 5.40pm, the flamenco theatre performance Daibar Masal will take the stage, recounting the stories of four women from Limassol who were historically deemed witches. This performance aims to shed light on the historical context of female oppression and celebrate resilience through storytelling.

The festival will continue with a music performance featuring artists Katerina Pasaschou, Frederiki Tombazou, Kyriakos Kosta, and Angelos Heipeloglou. Their performances promise to uplift and engage the audience, reinforcing the festival’s commitment to celebrating womanhood.
