anti-poaching — The new anti-poaching operation in Larnaca successfully led to the rescue of 83 live wild birds on Saturday morning. This latest operation highlights the ongoing battle against wildlife crime in the region.

Police conducted a thorough search of a fenced field in the Larnaca district, following a previous operation that had uncovered significant evidence of poaching. Just the day before, authorities had seized three buckets containing a total of 165 dead wild birds, alongside an improvised sound-producing device and various other items.

During the latest raid, officers discovered six trapping nets, from which they freed the 83 live birds. In addition to the rescued wildlife, police confiscated 87 dead wild birds, two nets, an improvised sound device connected to an amplifier, and two speakers, as well as a car battery.

A 30-year-old man was apprehended at the scene and is expected to face charges related to violations of wildlife protection legislation. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter through the Kofinou Regional Police Station.
