The incident unfolded around 12.30pm on Sunday in Linopetra, specifically on Kantatas Street. According to Limassol traffic police officer Marios Charalambous, a 20-year-old woman was driving a saloon vehicle westbound when she attempted a right turn at the junction with Ayios Athanasios Avenue.
During her turn, the vehicle collided with Al Ahmed, who was travelling south along Agios Athanasios Avenue. The impact was severe, causing him to be ejected onto the road.
Emergency services arrived promptly, and Al Ahmed was rushed to a private hospital by ambulance. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
Authorities have confirmed that the young driver underwent an alcohol test, which returned a zero reading, indicating no impairment. A helmet was discovered at the scene, leading investigators to probe whether Al Ahmed was wearing it at the time of the accident.
