The girl initially panicked when asked for identification, leading the suspect to falsely claim she was his daughter as he held her hand. However, when questioned further, the minor revealed the truth and was taken to the Limassol Police Station for her safety.
Child-groomer: Teenager Tests Positive for Methamphetamine
Following her arrival at the station, the 14-year-old disclosed that she had been in a romantic relationship with the 40-year-old man for about a year and had been using crystal methamphetamine with him in recent months. Subsequent hospital tests confirmed that she tested positive for methamphetamine.
Concerning Findings in the Vehicle
During a search of the vehicle, police discovered approximately two grammes of methamphetamine along with burglary tools. The suspect is already known to authorities for previous offences, including burglary and drug-related incidents.
Charges and Court Proceedings
The Limassol District Court has ordered the suspect to be remanded in custody for eight days following closed-door proceedings. He now faces multiple charges, including sexual abuse of a child, possession of burglary tools, traffic violations, and drug-related offences. Additionally, he is charged with providing false information to police officers.
A recorded statement from the minor has been taken in the presence of appropriate social services officials. As investigations continue, the suspect is expected to provide his statement, with support from Limassol CID and the Sexual Abuse of Minors Investigation Unit.
