Bank of Cyprus (BoC) has made a significant leap in customer service by launching an online mortgage application process that promises responses within 24 hours. This innovative service is now available through both Internet Banking and the BoC Mobile App, allowing customers to manage their mortgage applications from the comfort of their own homes.
The new system allows applicants to upload necessary documents electronically, providing a seamless experience as they choose between fixed or variable interest rates and select from various housing plans offered by the bank. This shift towards digital banking aims to simplify what is often a complex and time-consuming process.
When applying, customers must provide essential information about the property type—whether it is a primary residence, a holiday home, or a green house—alongside details like the requested loan amount and duration. Personal and financial information is also required, and for joint applications, the details of both applicants, such as spouses or common-law partners, must be included.
As part of the application, BoC will examine proof of income and collateral to assess financial eligibility. The bank has designed the online mortgage system to be user-friendly, aiming to demystify the mortgage application process and enhance transparency for customers.
Retail Banking Director Theodosis Theodosiou emphasised the importance of home acquisition, stating that it is a pivotal decision in many people’s lives. He remarked, “Through the new Online Mortgage Loan service, we enable our customers to take this step with greater ease, leveraging the capabilities of technology for a fast, simple and transparent process.”
This launch is part of Bank of Cyprus’s ongoing commitment to digital innovation and improving customer experience. By eliminating the need for in-branch visits, the bank aims to streamline the mortgage application process, making it more accessible for everyone.
