On Monday, 29 June 2026, the School of Economics and Management gathered to honour its brightest minds. The event was made possible by the generous contributions of several sponsors, including Coca-Cola HBC Cyprus, PwC Foundation, Vassos Eliades Ltd, Grant Thornton Cyprus, Themis Portfolio Management Ltd, and Deloitte Cyprus, each of whom played a crucial role in supporting this celebration of academic success.

Mba programme: Spotlight on Award Recipients

The evening was marked by the presentation of several prestigious awards, recognising outstanding performance across various disciplines within the MBA Programme. The Coca-Cola HBC Cyprus Award was bestowed upon Maria A. Polyviou, who distinguished herself as the top performer in the full-time MBA cohort. Meanwhile, the Coca-Cola HBC Cyprus Award for Best MBA Thesis went to a group of talented students—Michalis Heracleides, George Hadjipanayi, Marina Maria Papageorgiou, Christina Patiniou, and Chloe Kalogirou—for their innovative dissertation titled “Green Hydrogen Production from Solar Curtailed Energy.”

Andreas Panteli earned the PwC Foundation Award, honouring his exceptional performance as the top student in the English-language Part-time MBA cohort. The Vassos Eliades Ltd Award was given to Panayiota Panagidou, who excelled as the leading student in the Greek-language Part-time MBA cohort.

Honouring Academic Excellence

Two awards were presented in memory of esteemed professors who have left a significant mark on the programme. The Grant Thornton Cyprus Award, recognising excellence in Accounting, was awarded to Tasos Antonopoulos and Marios Clark. In tribute to Professor of Finance Dr. Georgios Nissiotis, the Themis Portfolio Management Ltd Award went to Tasos Antonopoulos, Marios Clark, and Georgia Loizou for their outstanding performance in Finance courses. Additionally, Deloitte Cyprus recognised Tasos Antonopoulos for achieving the highest grade in the MBA 511 “Financial Accounting for Decision Making” course.

Scholarships Supporting Future Leaders

This year’s ceremony also highlighted the importance of scholarship support in fostering academic achievement. The MBA Programme expressed deep gratitude to the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation and Petrolina for their generous contributions at the start of the academic year. The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation awarded three scholarships, each worth €10,000, to Christina Christou, Maria Mousikou, and Tasos Antonopoulos. Petrolina followed suit, presenting a scholarship of €10,250 to Pantelis Petrou. These scholarships not only empower talented students to pursue their dreams but also reflect the sponsors’ commitment to nurturing future leaders in the business field.
