- A kitchen fire in Limassol's Mesa Yitonia neighbourhood caused significant damage on Friday afternoon, affecting the entire house.
Residents were away when the fire ignited, and preliminary investigations suggest it began from a pan left unattended on the stove. The kitchen sustained heavy damage along with parts of the electrical system, while smoke spread throughout the rest of the house.
Meanwhile, earlier on the same day, emergency services responded to another fire at the International State Fair grounds at 1:19 PM. This incident consumed approximately three acres of wild vegetation, trees, and waste materials.
Additionally, another blaze occurred in Ergates, located in the Nicosia district, where three hectares of crops, hay bales, and wild vegetation were destroyed. The rapid response involved three fire brigade trucks, two rapid reaction vehicles staffed with firefighters and volunteers, and three fire trucks from the Forestry Department, along with private tractors operated by local residents.
