A 17-year-old boy was arrested in Limassol after he drove a stolen car into a house while trying to evade police. The incident unfolded on Wednesday morning when the vehicle, reported stolen just a day earlier, was spotted by an officer.

  • The police have stated that their investigation is ongoing, as they work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the burglary and the events leading to the reckless driving incident.

The stolen car was initially seen running a red light, prompting police to take action. However, the officer deemed it unsafe to pursue the vehicle at that moment. Later, the car was observed again and when the police signalled for it to stop, the driver accelerated in an attempt to escape.

In the course of the chase, the teenager committed multiple traffic violations before colliding with another vehicle travelling in the opposite direction. The stolen car eventually crashed into a house, bringing the reckless drive to an abrupt halt.

Following the collision, the young driver exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by the police. After his arrest, he was taken to a nearby police station. There, officers re-arrested him on suspicion of burglary related to an incident that occurred on September 28.

A subsequent search revealed a bag containing approximately 12 grams of dry cannabis, as well as a glass smoking utensil, often referred to as a bong, which had traces of a substance resembling methamphetamine. The boy underwent a preliminary drug test, which yielded a positive result.
