  • The Saudi Film Commission (SFC) has officially unveiled a cutting-edge virtual production soundstage at JAX Film Studios in Riyadh, marking a significant advancement in the Kingdom's film industry.

Virtual production: Innovative Features of the New Stage

Launched on November 4, 2025, the state-of-the-art virtual production volume was custom-designed by Pixomondo, a global leader in visual effects (VFX). This new facility is equipped with Sony’s latest VERONA LED technology, ensuring that it meets the demands of ambitious film productions.

The soundstage boasts an impressive configuration, featuring 2,720 Sony VERONA Crystal LED panels, which utilise Sony’s flagship 2.3mm pixel pitch technology. The dimensions of the stage are 23 metres in diameter, 27.5 metres in depth, and 10 metres in height, providing ample space for a variety of production needs.

Advanced Technology for Filmmakers

Designed with filmmakers in mind, the soundstage integrates camera tracking, real-time rendering, and in-camera visual effects workflows. This seamless integration is aimed at creating high-resolution, photorealistic environments that can cater to major Hollywood productions.

JAX Film Studios, which houses the new soundstage, offers a comprehensive suite of world-class production facilities. These include two expansive 1,500-square-metre soundstages, a private VIP lounge, a state-of-the-art cinema screening room, as well as fully equipped production offices and preparation spaces. This setup ensures a seamless, end-to-end environment for filmmakers and crews of all sizes.
