The brutal attack occurred in the presence of the victim’s daughter, while her two-year-old granddaughter was in a nearby room. According to authorities, the woman suffered severe craniocerebral injuries that proved fatal.

After the incident, the suspect walked into a nearby police station and confessed, stating, “I have bad news, I killed my wife.” He has since been charged with premeditated murder and is currently held under an eight-day remand order.

Police have confirmed that the murder weapon was seized from the couple’s residence, where the incident took place. Forensic pathologists collected toxicological samples, corroborating the suspect’s confession.

According to police spokeswoman Koulla Lambrianidou, the couple had separated some time ago yet continued to live together intermittently, causing ongoing tension in their relationship. Notably, there had never been any reported incidents of domestic violence between them.

This tragic event has raised concerns over the complexities of intimate partner relationships and the potential for violence, even when previous signs have not indicated such risks. The suspect remains in custody as Nicosia’s Criminal Investigation Department continues its inquiries.
