On Friday afternoon, police stopped the 23-year-old suspect while he was walking along a street in Limassol. A search of his bag revealed two nylon packages containing dried poppy pods, with a total weight of 418 grams. This discovery led officers to take further action.
Search Uncovers More Evidence
Following the initial arrest, police conducted a search of the suspect’s home, where they found the 21-year-old man. Inside the residence, authorities discovered a cardboard box containing eight nylon packages of dried poppy pods, amounting to a total weight of 1.682 kilograms. Both men were subsequently arrested and presented before the Limassol district court, which ordered their detention for eight days.
Illegal Residency Issues
During checks carried out after the arrest of the 22-year-old suspect, police found that he was residing illegally in the Republic. Consequently, he was rearrested for the offence of unlawful stay, adding another layer to the case as investigations continue.
