- The cause of death of 63-year-old Giorgos Michael from Zakaki remains undetermined following an inconclusive autopsy after a tragic traffic accident in Limassol.
- Samples from Michael's body have been collected for histopathological testing. The results of these tests are anticipated to shed light on the actual cause of death.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon around 4.30 pm on Vasileos Pavlou Street. According to police reports, Michael’s vehicle suddenly veered into the oncoming lane, resulting in a collision with a semi-truck driven by a 70-year-old man.
After the crash, emergency services found Michael unconscious at the scene. He was swiftly transported to Limassol General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The autopsy, conducted by state forensic pathologist Angeliki Papetta at noon on Friday, revealed no visible injuries that could explain the cause of death.
Police have noted that Michael was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Additionally, CCTV footage indicates that his car was travelling at a low speed, raising questions about the circumstances leading to the fatal incident.
While the autopsy did not provide conclusive evidence, reports suggest that Michael had a history of cardiac problems. This information, combined with the findings from the autopsy, supports the possibility that he may have died from pathological causes rather than as a direct result of the crash.
Samples from Michael’s body have been collected for histopathological testing. The results of these tests are anticipated to shed light on the actual cause of death.
