The iGaming industry is increasingly turning to AI to foster smarter, safer play for its users. According to the 2026 iGaming Trends report released by SOFTSWISS in November, industry participants are significantly investing in AI-driven compliance tools and real-time player monitoring.

Traditional measures of responsible gaming, such as deposit limits and self-exclusion tools, are increasingly considered baseline practices rather than differentiators. Emilia Kurzynska, Deputy Team Lead of Anti-Fraud at SOFTSWISS, states, “AI will be central to the future of Responsible Gambling.” She believes that AI enhances player protection by early detection of harmful patterns and aids operators in meeting regulatory standards.
Igaming: Precision in Player Protection
Machine-learning models can identify subtle behavioural changes that human oversight might overlook, such as sudden spikes in stakes or erratic play patterns. This technology allows for tailored interventions that correspond to individual player behaviours, reinforcing safety and trust within the gaming experience. As the report suggests, the conversation has shifted from whether AI should be adopted to how it can be integrated ethically and transparently.
Growing Industry Consensus on AI
The report highlights a notable shift in attitudes towards AI, with over half of respondents rating its importance at 9 or 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. This growing acceptance marks a decline in scepticism, as the demand for AI solutions grows within the industry.
Innovative Tools Supporting Responsible Gaming
Examples of AI in action include Mindway AI’s tools, GameScanner and Gamalyze, which combine artificial intelligence and cognitive science to promote responsible gambling. GameScanner identifies early signs of risky behaviour, while Gamalyze engages players with self-assessment tools that provide personalised feedback on their decision-making patterns. Recently, Gamalyze was added to the Hellenic Gaming Commission’s official website, enabling players to self-evaluate their gaming behaviours.
Collaboration for Regulatory Compliance
As the iGaming sector expands, the need for stringent regulations and government oversight has increased. Operators are not only complying with these legal requirements but are also collaborating with government agencies to develop innovative monitoring and prevention tools. In Ukraine, a national standard for gambling addiction support was introduced in 2025, emphasising the shared responsibility of the industry in addressing player protection.
Addressing Complex Marketing Challenges
The industry’s awareness of responsible gaming has also grown, particularly regarding marketing strategies. A 2025 study by GambleAware highlighted that well-meaning Responsible Gambling ads can sometimes backfire, inadvertently increasing the desire to gamble among viewers. This complexity requires continuous testing and behavioural research to ensure that messaging effectively reduces risks.
AI at the Core of Future Developments
As the iGaming landscape matures, responsible gaming is transitioning from a regulatory obligation to a measurable discipline. The integration of AI and behavioural science signifies a proactive approach to player protection. Kurzynska emphasises that “Responsible Gambling is no longer just about compliance — it’s about measurable outcomes.” This shift enables operators to implement real-time behavioural monitoring and transparent data frameworks that foster accountability across the industry.
With tightening regulations and advancing technology, the focus remains on ensuring that AI tools are used ethically and effectively, enhancing player trust and supporting innovation within the sector.
