Shortly after midnight, a 38-year-old man collided with the stone perimeter wall of a residence in a village in the Paphos district. His state of intoxication was evident when officers arrived at the scene, where he was reportedly shouting and causing a disturbance.
When police requested the man’s documents and vehicle registration, he reacted aggressively by pushing one of the officers. This led to his immediate arrest for several offences. A breathalyser test revealed a reading of 100 micrograms, exceeding the legal limit of 22 micrograms by more than four times.
The police confirmed that the man is facing serious charges, including drink driving, causing a road collision, speeding, assaulting a police officer, drunkenness, causing a disturbance, and public insult. He has since been placed in custody as investigations continue.
