During the night, police stopped and searched a total of 810 individuals and inspected 666 vehicles. The operation aimed to deter serious crime and enhance public order, with police emphasising its preventative nature.
Commercial Premises Raids
In addition to traffic stops, officers conducted raids on 83 commercial premises. These actions resulted in the identification of 28 administrative violations, showcasing the breadth of the police operation beyond just traffic enforcement.
Traffic Offences and Penalties
Much of the police activity focused on the roads, where traffic checks led to the issuance of 371 fines and the initiation of 28 additional traffic cases. This included the impounding of 20 vehicles, reinforcing the police’s commitment to road safety.
Drink and Drug Driving Violations
Speeding was the most frequently cited offence, with 118 citations issued to drivers. Out of 263 breathalyser tests conducted, 27 drivers were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Furthermore, eight drug-driving tests returned three positive results, underscoring the ongoing issue of impaired driving on Cyprus roads.
