- A couple aged 46 and 44 have been arrested in connection with a series of aluminium frame thefts in Limassol, prompting police investigations into their alleged activities.
Aluminium frame: Allegations of Burglary
Authorities have reported that the couple was remanded in custody for five days by Limassol District Court after being suspected of carrying out two burglaries within the last month. Their method involved removing aluminium frames from windows and doors, leaving the glass panes behind.
First Incident at Holiday Home
The first burglary was reported by a 50-year-old contractor who discovered that his holiday home in Moniatis had been targeted. He noted that three large sliding aluminium doors, four sliding aluminium windows, and three air conditioning compressors were stolen. The contractor believed the break-in occurred sometime in the past month, with the glass panes left at the scene, a clear indication of the thieves’ modus operandi.
Suspicious Activity at Restaurant
The second incident took place at a disused restaurant in Alassa. The owner received a notification from his CCTV system indicating that someone had entered the premises. Upon arrival, he found an unfamiliar woman in a vehicle. When questioned, she claimed to have stopped to use the toilet before leaving the scene.
CCTV Leads to Suspects
Local police officers responded to the report and discovered that six aluminium windows had been removed, with the frames taken but the glass left intact. A review of the CCTV footage led to the identification of the 46-year-old and 44-year-old as suspects. Both individuals were already known to law enforcement for being involved in similar thefts in the past.
Police Action
Following the identification of the suspects, police secured arrest warrants and located the couple for detention. During the questioning, both exercised their right to remain silent. Authorities indicated that the investigation is ongoing and further searches would be conducted to recover the stolen property.
