The Larnaca permanent criminal court found the defendant guilty of charges including importing and supplying drugs, as well as impersonation. The cannabis, neatly packaged in 30 parcels, arrived at a private company in Larnaca on May 19, 2025, prompting immediate action from the local drug enforcement agency.
On May 25, 2025, the man, identified as the intended recipient, proceeded to collect the shipment. It was at this point that authorities apprehended him. During questioning, he revealed that he had come to Cyprus with the express purpose of receiving the drugs, intending to deliver them to unknown parties for €1,000 per transaction. He cited financial difficulties as the driving force behind his decision to act as an intermediary for the drug smuggling operation.
The court’s decision highlights the serious nature of drug trafficking and the stringent measures in place to combat such activities. The case serves as a reminder of the legal consequences faced by those involved in the drug trade, regardless of their circumstances.
