Earlier that day, the national security council convened to discuss the escalating tensions. Humanitarian Approach to Crisis
Christodoulides emphasised that Cyprus’ next steps would align with its humanitarian approach. The government is actively engaging with all neighbouring states, the European Union, and other nations such as the United States and the United Kingdom.

He confirmed that Kombos is in “constant contact” with her regarding developments.
The President shared that initial consultations among foreign ministers are planned, and further steps will depend on the evolving situation. He referenced a joint statement from Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Council President Antonio Costa, expressing deep concern over developments in Iran and calling for maximum restraint from all parties involved.
