larnaca armed — larnaca armed — Five men, four of whom are already serving life sentences for murder, are set to stand trial in Larnaca over an armed robbery that occurred two years ago at a businessman’s home. The group, aged 43, 42, 41, 29, and 27, will appear before the Permanent Criminal Court on April 2, 2026, facing serious charges including conspiracy to commit a felony, robbery, night-time burglary, and theft.

  • The 43-year-old has resisted his continued detention, prompting the court to reserve its decision for tomorrow.

The robbery took place on February 19, 2024, when the wife of a 58-year-old businessman reported an incident to police. She detailed how four hooded men, armed with garden shears, broke into their residence in the Faneromeni area of Larnaca. The intruders threatened her and two domestic workers, confining them to a bedroom while they looted the home.

During the terrifying ordeal, the robbers seized mobile phones and jewellery, eventually forcing the woman to open a safe. From this safe, they allegedly made off with items, including watches and jewellery, valued at around €188,000.

Following the incident, police utilised CCTV footage to identify the five suspects involved. Investigators discovered that the robbers had used a vehicle stolen from Limassol, which was later found abandoned in the Germasogeia riverbed.

A breakthrough came when one of the stolen watches was traced back to a sale on a social media platform. The watch was found to have been sold to a jewellery shop in Lebanon, where the owner confirmed that he had been contacted from Cyprus regarding the transaction.

On March 14, 2024, law enforcement apprehended a 41-year-old suspect who allegedly made the call to Lebanon. Shortly thereafter, a 30-year-old individual was arrested for selling two stolen rings to a jewellery shop in Nicosia; he now faces separate charges in connection with this sale.

The four younger defendants involved in the robbery were later convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Demetris Andronikou, known as “Demetroui.” He was killed on May 28, 2024, after being shot multiple times on the Palaichori–Anthoupoli road.

In a voluntary statement, the 41-year-old suspect, arrested in connection to the murder, implicated the three other convicts in the Larnaca robbery, linking the two serious crimes. Meanwhile, a 43-year-old was arrested on February 11, 2026, concerning the robbery, while a 27-year-old remains at large.

The 43-year-old has resisted his continued detention, prompting the court to reserve its decision for tomorrow.
