Cyprus-based game publisher Digital Vortex Entertainment has made headlines with its acquisition of Bylina, an action-adventure title developed by Far Far Games. The announcement was accompanied by the release of the game’s first playable demo, now available on Steam.

Digital Vortex operates as a publishing arm under Utmost Games, a video game holding company located in Cyprus. The demo’s launch coincides with Steam Next Fest, allowing players to experience an early version of Bylina ahead of its full launch planned for 2026.

Bylina aims to be available on multiple platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with developers also focusing on optimising the game for the Steam Deck. The swift acquisition reflects Digital Vortex’s confidence in Bylina’s creative and commercial potential.

The publisher’s team, known for their work on successful titles such as Atomic Heart, Lost Ark, and PUBG Battlegrounds, recognised Bylina’s promise early on and acted quickly to secure it. Following the acquisition, the teams collaborated closely, completing full localisation, voice-over production, and extensive retesting in just one month.

Bylina: Bringing Slavic Folklore to Life

Bylina draws inspiration from Slavic fairy tales and legends, offering players a unique blend of storytelling that combines comedy with dark humour. The developers faced challenges in adapting this culturally rich material for a global audience. To navigate these complexities, Digital Vortex enlisted localisation specialists experienced with culturally nuanced titles like Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance and Like a Dragon.

“We appreciate partners who deliver fast without cutting corners,” remarked Alex Iliukhin, highlighting the efficiency of their collaboration. “Digital Vortex enabled rapid demo readiness; the Land of Cities awaits industry playtests.”

This teamwork allowed them to preserve Bylina’s unique voice while scaling the game for international markets, ensuring its appeal across diverse gaming communities. Alex Izotov added, “This positions it strongly on Steam and consoles. We’re open to co-publishing or localisation partnerships.”

A Strategic Addition to the Portfolio

The acquisition of Bylina marks a significant strategic move for Digital Vortex as it continues to expand its portfolio and support distinctive intellectual properties with global potential. The demo’s release not only showcases the game to a broad audience but also signals a coordinated effort to penetrate international markets prior to the full launch.

As the game industry evolves, Cyprus is emerging as a notable player in the interactive entertainment sector. Utmost Games is actively strengthening its international publishing activities through targeted acquisitions and global platform launches. With Bylina now part of its offerings, Digital Vortex aims to make a lasting impact on the gaming landscape.
