- limassol crash — A 63-year-old man has tragically died in a car crash on Vasileos Pavlou road in Limassol, with authorities considering medical causes as a potential factor in the incident.
The accident occurred around 4.30 pm on Thursday when George Michael, a resident of Zakaki, was driving northbound. According to Limassol traffic police, his vehicle swerved unexpectedly to the right, colliding head-on with a pickup truck travelling in the opposite direction.

Witness accounts indicate that the collision was sudden. Traffic police chief Marios Charalambous reported that after the crash, Michael appeared to be unconscious. Emergency services were called to the scene, and he was transported to Limassol General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Charalambous stated, “At some point on the road, he appears to have moved to the right and collided with a pickup truck, which was being driven by a 70-year-old heading south.” The police are investigating whether a loss of consciousness might have played a role in the incident, although Charalambous noted that other medical issues cannot be ruled out.
Initial assessments suggest that speed was not a contributing factor to the collision, as witnesses did not observe any high-speed driving prior to the accident. Additionally, CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
Michael was reported to have been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and he did not show visible injuries upon examination. As investigations continue, authorities await the results of a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of the man’s death.
