Upon noticing the police presence, the drivers attempted to flee, ignoring officers’ commands to stop. In their bid to escape, they collided with police vehicles, escalating the situation.
During the chaos, an officer sustained injuries. The driver of one of the cars displayed aggressive behaviour towards the police and was promptly arrested. According to the police, force was used proportionately during the arrest.
A search of the man’s vehicle revealed a club, an electric shock device, multiple cartridges, and a quantity of drugs. Following his apprehension, he lost consciousness and collapsed, prompting an ambulance to be summoned.
Medical assessments at Limassol general hospital indicated that he had consumed narcotic substances, though no visible injuries were found. Due to the severity of his condition, he was later transferred to Nicosia general hospital, where he is currently intubated and receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.
In addition to the 31-year-old, two other individuals, aged 15 and 21, were arrested on-site for their involvement in the incident. The 15-year-old was identified as the rider of one of the motorcycles, while the 21-year-old was the driver of the second car.
