Cyprus enthusiast: A Passion for Cyprus

Nassar boasts around 50,000 social media followers across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. He shares insights into everything from the stray-cat situation to Cyprus’s growing reputation as a crypto hub. Originally from Lebanon, he moved to Limassol at the age of six months and has a deep-rooted connection to the island.

From Corporate to Content Creator

After spending 24 years in the corporate world, where he rose to the position of managing director at Columbia Restaurants, Nassar took a leap into content creation about eight months ago. Reflecting on his transition, he said, “Being back onstage… I feel my personality shines there.” He found joy in being a DJ and hosting karaoke shows during his teenage years, experiences that have shaped his current approach to connecting with audiences.

Engaging Audiences

Nassar’s videos often highlight local culture and cuisine, including his recent quest to educate people in Bali about halloumi cheese. His enthusiasm is infectious, as seen in a TikTok where he passionately informs waiters about the cheese’s true origins.

Limassol’s Transformation

As a self-proclaimed “Cyprus enthusiast,” Nassar appreciates the changes happening in Limassol, even as some locals express concerns about rapid development. He acknowledges the beauty of the Trilogy towers but also calls for more strategic planning in urban growth. “I dislike some things, for instance the uncontrolled growth,” he states, advocating for a balance between progress and preserving the community.

Challenges and Opportunities

The rise in property prices and living costs in Limassol has made it difficult for many residents to find affordable housing. Nassar addresses this issue directly, acknowledging its unfairness but emphasising that change is inevitable. “The world is moving forward… If you’re stuck in the mentality of the 80s, you’re gonna be run over,” he warns.

A Positive Outlook

Nassar’s philosophy revolves around positivity and adaptation. He believes in focusing on the good rather than dwelling on negatives, saying, “I want to look at all the good things that are happening. Because, I believe, focus on what you want to grow.” His approach to life reflects a commitment to finding opportunities amid challenges.

Building a New Brand

Though Nassar is still in the early stages of his content creation journey, he has plans for monetisation through collaborations and a soon-to-be-launched digital product that he believes will appeal to visitors of Cyprus. “The money is insignificant,” he admits, regarding follower counts, “but that’s not where the money is.”

Connecting with Others

Nassar has also taken on the role of president of the Mediterranean Influencers & Creators Association, where he facilitates networking among content creators. His diverse projects include a partnership in a Mexican restaurant and involvement in an awards ceremony aimed at bridging business and social media.

Life Beyond Social Media

Beyond his work, Nassar enjoys a balanced life filled with activities like gym sessions, poker nights, and spending time with his girlfriend Julia, who is also a content creator. This balance seems crucial to him as he navigates his new career path.

Embracing Change

Nassar’s thoughts on societal changes are reflective of broader global trends. He expresses gratitude for the opportunities presented by the evolving digital landscape while remaining respectful of the challenges faced by the local community. “Change is happening because the world is changing,” he reiterates, encouraging others to adapt rather than resist.

As our conversation wraps up, Nassar’s enthusiasm for Cyprus shines through. He leaves me with a final thought on the importance of positivity: “I choose to focus on the positives.” With that, he heads off to greet more familiar faces at Nook, embodying the spirit of a true Cyprus enthusiast.
