limassol wine — limassol wine — An arson attack targeting a wine shop in Germasogeia has raised alarms, particularly as it involves an associate of the late Stavros Demosthenous. The incident occurred around 03:40 on Thursday, 18 December, at a premises on Georgiou Avenue.

According to police reports, a suspect approached the shop and used a flammable liquid to ignite the entrance. Fortunately, the Fire Service arrived in time to extinguish the flames before they could reach the interior of the building.
This attack marks the second incident in just three weeks against the same businessman, who has become a focal point of concern for the Limassol Police Directorate. On 27 November, four luxury vehicles belonging to the individual were destroyed in another incendiary assault. These vehicles, valued at hundreds of thousands of euros, were set ablaze in a private parking area in Mouttagiaka.
Law enforcement officials suspect that these attacks may be orchestrated by criminal elements attempting to exert pressure on the foreign national, possibly related to protection money or ongoing business disputes. The victim is notably linked to the late Stavros Demosthenous, a prominent businessman and former president of Karmiotissa FC, who was tragically assassinated on 17 October 2025.
Following the arson attack, the scene was cordoned off, with forensic experts from the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Fire Service conducting a thorough examination. Although no injuries were reported, there was visible damage to the glass facade and entrance of the shop.
Detectives are actively working on the case, reviewing CCTV footage from Georgiou Avenue and nearby businesses to trace the movements of the perpetrator. Additionally, forensic samples of the flammable liquid used in the attack are being analysed, and the owner of the wine shop is expected to provide a statement at the CID offices later today.

This ongoing inquiry has already led to arrests in both Greece and Cyprus, and authorities are considering whether this recent wave of arson is a direct result of the conflicts that contributed to the October murder.
