Bad weather has disrupted a flight from Prague, preventing it from landing at Larnaca airport on Sunday afternoon. Passengers onboard faced a frustrating two-hour delay as dense fog engulfed the airport, making visibility perilously low.
The flight initially approached Larnaca, but after circling the airport for 30 minutes in an attempt to land, the pilot made the decision to divert to Paphos airport. This alternative was necessary to ensure the safety of everyone onboard, as conditions at Larnaca did not improve.
Upon arrival in Paphos, the aircraft was refuelled, allowing it to prepare for a return to Larnaca once the weather cleared. After some waiting, the flight finally touched down in Larnaca at approximately 4pm, two hours later than its scheduled time.
This incident underscores the challenges that airports face during adverse weather conditions, especially in regions where fog can significantly impact flight operations. Passengers were understandably anxious but remained in good spirits, appreciating the crew’s professionalism in handling the situation.
