The latest earthquake was reported shortly before 7am, with the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre confirming its depth at 17 kilometres and its epicentre located around 18 kilometres south-east of Paphos.
Wednesday’s Earthquake Sequence
On Wednesday, the island was rattled by two earthquakes, both measuring 5.3. These seismic events were followed by multiple aftershocks, with some exceeding a magnitude of 3, creating a sense of unease among residents. The tremors were felt widely across the island, particularly in the Paphos region.

As of 9am on Thursday, the geological survey department had yet to confirm the third earthquake. Christodoulos Hadjigeorgiou, the director of the geological survey department, indicated that his team would continue to monitor the situation closely and did not rule out the potential for further tremors.
