The Avdimou-Anogyra road in the Limassol district was reopened on Thursday after a 17-hour closure due to the accident that took the life of 68-year-old Nikos Paris. According to police reports, the head-on collision unfolded around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday as Paris was returning to his home in Anogyra village after visiting his brother.
Investigators from the Limassol Traffic Branch and the Traffic Headquarters Collision Reconstruction Team were on the scene early Thursday to examine the circumstances surrounding the accident. A police spokesperson confirmed that the crash occurred in the lane occupied by Paris, indicating that he was struck head-on by another vehicle.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 57-year-old man, is currently hospitalised with serious injuries, including internal injuries and a fractured right hip. The severity of his condition has raised concerns about his recovery.
Emergency services had to extricate both drivers from their vehicles, as the impact of the collision was devastating.
