teen driver — teen driver — A teenage driver has been arrested in Nicosia after clocking an alarming speed of 190 km/h while under the influence of alcohol. The 19-year-old was caught driving on the Limassol – Nicosia highway, where the legal speed limit is 100 km/h.

At approximately 02:30 this morning, officers from the Police Headquarters Traffic Department were conducting routine speed checks near the GSP Stadium in Strovolos when they noticed the speeding vehicle. The extraordinary speed raised immediate concerns about road safety.

Upon stopping the car, police conducted a check on the driver, who was found to have a blood alcohol content of 21μg%, significantly exceeding the legal limit of 9μg%. This combination of reckless driving and intoxication prompted the officers to take swift action.

The young driver was arrested for in flagrante delicto offences, a legal term indicating that he was caught in the act of committing a crime. Following his arrest, he was released after signing a guarantee document, promising to appear at the Nicosia District Court on Monday, 20/10/2025, where a case against him for his traffic offences is expected to be filed.

Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident at Latsia Police Station, as they work to ensure that such dangerous behaviour is addressed.
