cryptocurrency fraud — The Cyprus Police is investigating a case of online cryptocurrency fraud after a 31-year-old woman lost $52,485. The investigation was prompted by a complaint filed with the Limassol CID, detailing the woman’s unfortunate experience.

In her complaint, the woman explained that she had been in communication with an unknown man online, who persuaded her to invest in a cryptocurrency platform. Over a span of ten days, from September 25th to October 4th, she made six transactions based on his urging.

According to reports, the woman transferred a total of $52,485 in cryptocurrency through an electronic link provided by the man. However, when she attempted to revisit the company’s website, she discovered that it had vanished without a trace.

As the Limassol CID continues its inquiries, authorities are working to track down the perpetrator and identify the fraudulent platform that deceived the woman. The case highlights the risks associated with online investments, particularly in the rapidly evolving cryptocurrency market, where scams have become increasingly prevalent.
