limassol murder — limassol murder — A 26-year-old woman has denied harming her partner, Gerome Zarate De Castro, in a case now being investigated as a suspected murder in Limassol. The woman claims their interaction was limited to a verbal argument before he tragically fell from their flat.

Following the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, the woman was arrested on Monday on suspicion of premeditated murder. She appeared in Limassol District Court on Tuesday, where a remand order for eight days was issued, with no objections raised by her lawyer, Stelios Alvanis.

In her preliminary statement to investigators, the suspect explained that the couple had been arguing due to jealousy. She stated that during the confrontation, her partner was knocking on the bedroom door before she heard a noise that prompted her to step out onto the balcony.

The case has taken a significant turn following an autopsy conducted by forensic pathologists, Angeliki Papetta and Orthodoxos Orthodoxou. Their examination revealed that De Castro’s death was the result of haemorrhagic shock due to internal bleeding from a ruptured spleen. The autopsy also uncovered two penetrating wounds in the abdominal area, raising questions about their origin.

According to the pathologists, the nature of the wounds suggested they were not consistent with injuries typically resulting from a fall. No objects were found at the scene that could explain these injuries, leading authorities to suspect possible criminal activity.

In a further statement after her arrest, the woman reiterated that there had been no physical confrontation with her partner. Investigators are expected to gather more statements and delve into the dynamics of the couple’s recent relationship.

De Castro was discovered injured outside his apartment building around 1am on Sunday. After being transported to Limassol General Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries several hours later. It is believed he fell from a balcony approximately six metres high.
