limassol balcony — limassol balcony — Police are investigating the death of a 31-year-old Filipino man as premeditated murder after an autopsy revealed injuries inconsistent with a fall from a balcony. Gerome Zarate De Castro was found injured outside his apartment building in Limassol around 1:00am on Sunday, 28 September.
Emergency services rushed De Castro to Limassol General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries several hours later. Initial police reports indicated that he had fallen from his sixth-floor balcony, approximately six metres high.
Limassol balcony: Autopsy Findings Raise Suspicion
An autopsy conducted on Monday morning by forensic pathologists Angeliki Papetta and Orthodoxos Orthodoxou revealed that De Castro’s death was caused by haemorrhagic shock due to internal bleeding from a ruptured spleen. However, forensic experts also discovered penetrating wounds in the abdominal area that could not be explained by a fall.
The pathologists noted that the absence of findings justifying the wounds being caused by a fall raises significant suspicion. They suggested that the injuries might have resulted from penetrating trauma, possibly from an object in the area of the reported fall or from a sharp object prior to the fall.
Partner Arrested Amid Ongoing Investigation
<pFollowing the autopsy results, police arrested a 26-year-old woman, who is believed to be De Castro's partner, under a court warrant. She was taken to Limassol CID for questioning and is expected to appear before Limassol District Court for a remand order.
