- The Cyprus Ports Authority (CPA) has achieved ISO certification for its department of ports regulatory affairs management, marking a significant step in enhancing port regulation.
On Monday, the authority announced that it had completed the certification process under the internationally recognised CYS EN ISO 9001:2015 standard, awarded by the Cyprus Certification Company (CCC). This certification is a testament to the CPA’s dedication to quality management and operational excellence.
As part of the requirements, the certification was conferred under the general regulation for the evaluation and certification of quality systems. This recognition not only affirms the CPA’s commitment to transparency and continuous improvement but also strengthens its role as the regulatory and supervisory authority of the port sector in Cyprus.
With the certification being valid for three years, the CPA will undergo annual surveillance audits to ensure ongoing compliance with the standard. This rigorous process is designed to maintain high standards of professionalism and regulatory adherence in port operations.
Iso certification: Global Recognition and Credibility
The CPA’s ISO certification is also recognised globally through the International Certification Network (IQNET), which is the largest network of certification bodies worldwide. This affiliation ensures that the CPA’s certification carries significant weight on an international scale, enhancing its credibility in the maritime community.
The authority expressed that the certification signifies an important milestone in its mission to uphold the highest levels of professionalism and compliance with international best practices within the port sector.
Commitment to Quality and Best Practices
As the CPA moves forward, it remains dedicated to refining its regulatory tools and enhancing the supervision of port activities. This commitment is vital for the national economy and the maritime community, as it aims to foster an environment of trust and reliability among partners.
The CPA stated, “This certification is not merely an achievement; it represents a tangible confirmation of our mission to ensure the port sector operates effectively and in alignment with global standards.” This statement reinforces the authority’s proactive approach to quality assurance and dedication to best practices.
Understanding ISO 9001:2015 Certification
The ISO 9001:2015 standard is widely regarded as the most adopted framework for Quality Management Systems (QMS) globally, with over one million organisations certified. The latest edition emphasises risk-based thinking, enhanced leadership accountability, and the use of the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle, which facilitates continuous monitoring and improvement of processes.
Certification is awarded following an independent audit by an accredited body, ensuring that the CPA meets the necessary criteria for quality management. With this achievement, the authority is set to continue its journey towards excellence in port regulation.
