Authorities from the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested a 22-year-old foreign national on Sunday, following his confession to Emon’s abduction. Under interrogation, he directed officers to a location close to a local slaughterhouse where the body was found, prompting forensic teams to cordon off the area for further examination.
Emon was reported missing after he left his shared home in Oroklini on 12 June, stating he was heading to a factory in Kofinou for his first day of work. He sent a digital location pin to a friend later that evening, but his phone signal went dead shortly thereafter.
The case escalated dramatically when unidentified individuals contacted Emon’s father in Greece, demanding a ransom. Two days before the suspect’s arrest, explicit ransom messages surfaced on social media, demanding a total of €35,000. The messages threatened that Emon would “never see his face again” if the authorities were informed.
