- Police are investigating a case of attempted murder after a brawl outside a nightclub in Ayia Napa left four people injured, with a 21-year-old Israeli man arrested.
The incident occurred around 4:30 am today when officers responded to reports of a violent altercation. Upon arrival, they found four individuals who had sustained injuries, three of whom appeared to have wounds consistent with knife attacks.
The injured included a 22-year-old, a 25-year-old, and a 41-year-old, all of whom were treated for serious injuries. The fourth victim, also a 22-year-old, had head injuries, although his condition was not reported as severe.
According to police, the 21-year-old suspect was identified by witnesses as the individual responsible for the injuries to the first three victims. When law enforcement approached him, he reportedly reacted aggressively, using foul language and resisting their attempts to restore order.
As a result of his behaviour, the suspect was charged with public insult, causing alarm, and disturbing the peace in the presence of officers. Meanwhile, the four injured parties were transported to Famagusta General Hospital for medical treatment. The condition of the 22-year-old with knife wounds is currently serious, while the other two suffered minor injuries. The fourth individual, who sustained injuries to his head and face, is also receiving care.
In a statement from the police, it was noted that three of the injured individuals are Cypriots, while the fourth is an Israeli national, reportedly a friend of the arrested suspect. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the brawl and the motivations behind the violence.
